Movie Review: Notting Hill

If someone asks me to make a must-watch list of romantic movies then Notting Hill will surely have a place in it (though much after Titanic). I have seen this movie during my college days but still can't forget the unforgettable dialogues from this movie. The film cast comprises of Hugh Grant & Julia Roberts and the chemistry between them is really awesome. Moreover the film boast of a song from Ronan Keating (title Song) and the song really fit well in the movie. In fact, my best part is where Julia & Hugh were in this beautiful garden in the midst of town & the Ronan Keating song was playing in background.

The script & narration is pretty good & this movie definitely makes to my must-watch list of romantic movies. Another part that I liked very much is when Julia, who is playing the role of a famous actress, visits Hugh's place & the reaction of his family members.

Movie Review: Predators

Saturdays are the only days in week where I can really sit down & watch 2-3 movies at one go. Today I started my 'Saturday-quota' with the movie "Predators". In the movie the only known face, that I remember, was that of the alien Predator. The storyline goes like this- A group of people chosen for their capability to kill people (read predators) are dropped into a vast jungle of a distant planet (almost similar like earth except the sky & the animals that live there). Here they must encounter & endeavor the predators (aliens) that are trying to kill them as pray. The movie revolves around aliens chasing the humans & humans trying to flee. Gradually, the aliens started hunting down one person after another & by the time the movie reaches climax only three human character remains-the hero(Adrien Brody), the heroine(Alice Braga) & Dr. Edwin(Topher Grace).Altogether, the movie is quite watch able(maybe only once!). Please go for it, if you don’t have any other real options. The movie really fares well if we compare it with other contemporary movies of same genre.

Movie Review: The Expendables

Recently I got a chance to watch a movie in a theater (let me tell you its one of the best out there). To my luck, good or bad yet to be decided, the only action movie screen was showing 'The Expendables'. The movie is about a group of highly skilled mercenaries carrying out operations for money. The leader of this highly specialized group is Sylvester Stallone. Other notable cast members include Jet Li, Jason Statham & Dolph Lundgren.  There is also a small cameo role by Arnold Schwarzenegger & Bruce Willis. To be frank, though the movie boasts of high profile stars it lack a good gripping story. The movie was an out & out Hollywood action movie with no real story.

Sylvester Stallone, though old, looks fabulous. Jason & Jet Li are as always good in action stunts. Add to this some special effect & you will high-octane action flick. My favorite part was the action sequence (sometimes hilarious) between Jet Li & Dolph Lundgren. This movie is only for avid action movie fans & Stallone supporters.

Movie Review: Good Will Hunting

Just now, finished watching Matt Damon starrer Good Will Hunting. Apart from Matt the movie boasts of a incredible cast that include Ben Affleck & Robin Williams. The story revolves around brilliant but careless Matt Damon. Matt works as a janitor in prestigious university MIT, but he has a gift for Math. This brings him in notice of math professor in MIT. In the meantime, because of his involvement in a local brawl court order him to undergo behavioral consultancy. Here comes Robin Williams who soon become a friend with Matt. Ben Affleck’s character is Matt's best friend in the movie.

The movie soon enter a bitter rivalry between Math professor(Stellan SkarsgÄrd) & Robin William with one of them wanting Matt to make use of his gift for Math while other is insisting him to follow his heart. The movie is a incredible spin-off between what a man think with his brain & want from heart. This is one of the best performances by Matt Damon & Robin Williams. The story is brilliant with slow but effective narration. This movie will compel us to think once more whether what we are doing is what we actually wanted. This movie is clearly one of my favorite & if you have not seen it till now I will suggest buy the DVD & watch it.

Movie Review: Forever Strong

Recently I have seen this movie- Forever Strong starring Sean Faris, Gary Cole, Sean Astin & Neal McDonough. The movie belongs to Sports/Drama genre with a good mix of Teenage life & issues. Sean Faris is a Rugby Player who plays rugby for a team, which is coached by his father Neal McDonough. The father & son have a troubled relationship. One night while indulged in drugs & driving with his friend, Sean met with a Crash. He is then sent to a rehabilitation house where he meets with the rival team's coach Gary Cole with some help from rehabilitation home's superintendent.

Soon, they Sean & Gary develop a strong relationship as Sean starts playing for him. The story revolves mainly around the three lead figures namely-Sean, his father Neal & coach Gary. However, there are some other characters to watch out for like Quentin, Kurt & Lars. The film reach the climax when Sean needs to play against his father's team & this brings out the best in Father-Son relationship. The strong point of the movie is the father son relationship where both fail to understand each other. Ultimately it’s the coach of rival team (Gary Cole) who helps them to come close. The setting of the film is ok but it fails to shoot over average drama flicks mainly because of its average story line & predictability. But definitely its a good time pass movie.

I was an avid movie watcher from my childhood. Movie watching is not only my hobby; it’s somewhat my passion also. From my childhood till now I have watched hundreds of movies cutting across different languages, genres & generations. In this blog I just want to put my sincere views(or say reviews!) & comments for some of these movies. Here, I will not try to judge whether a movie is good or bad, as it depends on individual taste, but will just try to put my thoughts.

I hope you will like this blog & look forward for your valuable comments & advice.
